Story & Script
Writing prose and screenplays, and the structure around them.
- Writing in StoryStory is where you write prose: a treatment, an outline, a novel or notes on the world. Type, and use / for chapters, headings and other blocks.
- ChaptersChapters divide a Story. Start one with New Chapter, rename and reorder chapters from the outline, and move between them from the sidebar.
- Writing a screenplayScript formats your screenplay as you type. Enter and Tab move between scene headings, action, characters and dialogue, and / opens every element.
- Acts and scenesA screenplay is made of scenes, and you can group scenes into acts. Add acts from the outline and see every scene in the sidebar.
- Moving scenes and actsReorder scenes and acts by dragging them in the outline, with a keyboard shortcut, or with Move to an act.
- Story vs ScriptStory is prose and Script is a formatted screenplay. They are separate manuscripts in the same project, sharing its Characters & Places.
