Moving scenes and acts
Reorder scenes and acts by dragging them in the outline, with a keyboard shortcut, or with Move to an act.
Moving a scene moves its whole text: the heading and everything under it until the next scene. Your writing is not retyped or changed.
Move a scene
- Drag the scene by its handle in the outline (Manuscript options › Open outline) and drop it where it belongs. You can drop it into a different act.
- Keyboard: with your cursor in a scene, press ⌘ ⌥ ↑ or ↓ on a Mac, or Ctrl Alt ↑ or ↓ on Windows.
- Menu: open the scene’s ⋯ menu in the outline and choose Move to an act.
Acts
Moving a whole act at once is not available yet. To change the order of acts, move their scenes.
Undo
A move is one step in your undo history. Press ⌘ Z (Ctrl Z on Windows) to put it back.
Good to know
- Reordering is not available while you are filtering the outline.
- Moving scenes keeps their identity, so Production work attached to a scene stays attached.
