Characters and places in Story
Mention characters and places as you write. Linked names open a preview without leaving the page.
In Story, the people and places of your film can be linked to their profiles, so the prose and the story world stay connected.
Mention a character or place
Open Tools (⌘ K or Ctrl K) and choose Mention character or Mention place. Scriptr inserts a linked name at the caret. To create someone new as you write, choose New character or New place; the profile is created in place, with no separate window.
Linked names
A linked name has a subtle underline. It never changes how your prose reads or exports.
- Hover to see a light preview: their image or monogram, name, type, one line and Open.
- Click to pin a richer preview: their looks, their voice if they have one, and where they appear.
Press Esc or click outside to close a pinned preview.
Why link
Linked names let Co-writer, Production and the character’s profile know exactly who you mean, even when two characters share a first name. See Referencing characters and places.
