Referencing Characters and Places in your writing

Link a name in your writing to its profile, then hover it to see who or where it is.

In Story

  1. Type / and choose Mention Character or Mention Place.
  2. Start typing the name, use ↑ and ↓ to choose, and press Enter to link it. Press Esc to keep typing without linking.

In Script

You do not need to do anything. Character cues and scene headings are recognised automatically, and Scriptr links the names it finds to their profiles.

See who or where it is

Hover a linked name to open its peek: a short card with the profile, where it Appears in, View profile → and Ask Co-writer.

What linking does not do

Your page shows exactly what you typed: Scriptr does not highlight, underline or colour names at rest. Links are not printed in exports, and nothing is added to your text.
