Scriptr and AI agents

How to work on a Scriptr project with an AI agent or assistant outside Scriptr, and what stays in your control.

Many writers use an AI agent or assistant alongside their writing app. Scriptr is built so that your project can go to an agent in a form it understands, without giving the agent your account.

Inside Scriptr: Co-writer

Co-writer is Scriptr’s own assistant. It reads the project you are working in and proposes changes you accept or reject. Its tools are in Tools (⌘ K on a Mac, Ctrl K on Windows), and they differ between Story and Script. See Tools and the Co-writer dock.

Outside Scriptr: hand off

To work with another agent, hand your Script or Story to it as agent-ready Markdown. It keeps the structure and stable IDs, so the agent can refer to Scene 03 precisely, and it never includes your Co-writer conversations or comments. See Handing your work to an agent.

Bringing changes back

An agent’s suggestions don’t flow into Scriptr by themselves. Bring back what you want to keep by writing it into your Story or Script yourself, so nothing enters your manuscript without you. Your version history means you can always go back. See Restoring a version.
