Generating video for a shot
From shot to take: write the direction, add references, choose the settings, confirm, and review the result.
Video generation turns a shot’s direction into a take. The steps are the same every time, and nothing runs until you confirm.
1. Choose the shot
In Production, open Scenes & shots, then the scene and the shot. Or start from the composer on Production Home and add the result to a scene afterwards.
2. Write the direction
Describe what happens in the shot: who, where, the action, the camera. See Writing a prompt and adding references.
3. Add references and characters
Use +, or type @ in the prompt, to add characters, places, scenes, Whiteboard images, Production media or an image from your device. A character brings their look; a place brings its look.
4. Choose the model and settings
Auto chooses a model for you and says which and why. Or choose one yourself, and set the length, frame and style. See Choosing a model and settings.
5. Confirm
Choose Generate. A confirmation shows the model, the output, the prompt, the references, the style and the project, with what the generation will cost. Confirm to start it.
6. Follow the job
The take moves through Queued, Generating, Processing and Ready. You can keep working; the job runs on. See Following a generation.
7. Review and save
When the take is ready, play it, compare it with other takes and select it for the shot. See Reviewing and saving generated video.
Who can generate
Generation is part of the Director plan. On other plans the prompt and references are kept, and Develop stays available.
