Comparing drafts and applying changes

Compare two drafts side by side and bring across only the changes you choose. Drafts are never merged automatically.

When an alternate draft has something worth keeping, such as a better scene or a sharper line, you can bring it into another draft. You decide exactly what moves.

Compare two drafts

Open the draft control, choose the draft you want to compare, and compare it with the draft you are in. The two are shown side by side, with the differences marked.

Apply a change

Choose a difference and apply it to the draft you are in. Only that change moves. Everything else in both drafts stays as it was.

Applying a change is a normal edit: it saves, it appears in the draft’s history, and you can restore the version before it.

No automatic merging

Scriptr never merges drafts for you, and it never combines two versions of the same passage on its own. If a scene differs in both drafts, you see both and choose.
