Setting up a writers’ room
One project per show or film, the room invited by email, each writer as an editor, and notes beside the lines.
Create the project
The showrunner or head writer creates the project. They are its owner. Name it, choose its appearance, and import any existing pages. See Creating and managing projects.
Invite the room
Invite each writer by email as Can edit. Invite producers, script editors and executives who only need to read as Can view. See Inviting someone to a project.
Work in drafts
Keep the agreed screenplay as the Main draft. When a writer takes a pass, or the room wants to try a different ending, work in an alternate draft. See Creating and switching drafts.
Name a version at each milestone, such as Table read or Network draft. See Naming a version.
Notes
Leave notes beside the lines they are about, and resolve them as they are addressed. See Comments and feedback.
Keep the world straight
Build the show’s characters and places once, in Characters. Every writer links to the same profiles, and Co-writer’s Check continuity reviews the facts you have established. See Creating characters.
