Introducing Voice Studio
Voice Studio gives a character one voice of their own, so you can hear their lines in Script and Production.
Voice Studio is where a character gets a voice. You choose one from the library or create one from a written direction, try it on the character’s real dialogue or on a line of your own, and save it to the character. From then on, Script and Production use that voice whenever you preview the character’s lines.
Where to find it
Open a character’s profile in Characters. The Voice section shows the voice the character has, or that they don’t have one yet. Choose Open Voice Studio, Choose a voice or Create a voice.
Voice Studio opens as a workspace titled with the character’s name, such as Benjamin’s voice. The breadcrumb shows the path back: project, Characters, the character, Voice Studio.
What it does
- Choose a voice. Browse the voice library, filter it, play samples and compare voices side by side.
- Create a voice. Describe the voice you hear in your head. Scriptr creates three versions to choose from.
- Try a line. Hear a voice perform the character’s dialogue from your Script, or a test line you type, which is never added to your screenplay.
- Choose one voice. The voice you choose becomes the character’s voice everywhere in the project.
- Keep takes. Individual performances you like can be kept, renamed and archived.
The voice and the takes are separate
A character has one voice: their identity. A take is a single performance of one line by that voice. Choosing a voice never selects a take, and keeping, renaming or removing a take never changes the voice.
Who can use it
Voice Studio is part of the Writer and Director plans. On Free, a character’s Voice section shows a preview of what Voice Studio does and Unlock Voice Studio, which opens the plans in Settings.
To choose or change a character’s voice you need edit access to the project. Groups of characters, such as a crowd or a band, don’t have a single voice.
