Troubleshooting voice generation

What Voice Studio’s messages mean, and what to do when a voice, sample or take doesn’t work.

“Voice Studio is available on Writer and Director.”

Your account is on Free. Choose Unlock Voice Studio on a character’s profile to see the plans. If you have just upgraded, close and reopen the profile.

“Groups don’t have a single voice.”

The character is a group, such as a crowd or a band. Give individual members of the group their own character profiles if they need voices.

“We could not find that character.”

The character was removed or merged while Voice Studio was open, or it is in a project you no longer have access to. Go back to Characters and open it again.

“That voice isn’t available in the library right now.”

The voice was withdrawn from the library, or the library couldn’t be reached. Choose another voice, or try again in a few minutes.

The library won’t load

Voice Studio shows placeholder rows while it loads. If the library can’t be reached, it says so rather than showing an old list. Check your connection and reopen Voice Studio.

A sample won’t play

Some voices have no published sample, and a sample can be briefly unavailable. Try the voice on a line instead, or try again later.

“This take couldn’t be performed. Nothing was used.”

One voice couldn’t perform the line. Choose Retry on that take. If it keeps failing, shorten the line or remove unusual characters, and try again.

“We could not set that voice. Try again.”

The change didn’t save. Nothing has changed: the character keeps their previous voice. Check your connection and choose Use for again. If you only have view access to the project, ask the owner for edit access.

“That take is no longer here.”

Someone else removed or archived the take. Refresh the profile to see the current takes.

Still stuck?
