Working with voices in Production
Production uses each character’s chosen voice when you preview shots and takes.
A character’s voice follows them into Production. When you preview a scene, a shot or a take, their lines use the voice saved on their profile.
Where you hear it
- Production Home: character previews include their voice sample.
- Shot Studio: when a shot includes dialogue, you can hear the line in the character’s voice beside the shot.
- Comments: collaborators can comment on a voice audition, and their comments reach your Inbox.
One voice, everywhere
Production doesn’t keep its own copy of a voice. If you change a character’s voice, Production uses the new voice from then on. Takes you kept in Voice Studio stay as they were performed.
Characters without a voice
A character without a voice is still fully usable in Production. Their lines simply have no voice preview. Open their profile and choose Open Voice Studio to give them one.
Plans
Hearing voices in Production needs Writer or Director. Production’s scene, shot and take workflows are part of Director. See What Production is.
