Introducing Tools
Tools is the keyboard-first way to act on the page: format a line, add a scene, jump to a chapter, link a character or ask Co-writer.
Tools puts every action you can take on the page in one place, a keystroke away. You never have to leave the line you are writing.
What it does
- Writing: change the current line’s element or paragraph style.
- Structure: add a scene, act or chapter, or jump to one.
- Characters & Places: create, mention or open a character or place.
- References: link selected text to a scene, chapter or Scene Card.
- Review: search the whole manuscript or check continuity.
- Co-writer: prepare a focused request, such as Sharpen dialogue, without typing it out.
Open it
Press ⌘ K on a Mac or Ctrl K on Windows, or choose Tools at the foot of Story or Script. See Opening Tools.
Story and Script have their own Tools
Story offers prose tools; Script offers screenplay tools. See Using Tools in Story and Using Tools in Script.
Tools and Co-writer are different
Tools act on the page straight away. Co-writer is a writing assistant you ask for ideas and changes, which arrive as proposals. Some tools prepare a Co-writer request for you. See Tools and Co-writer.
