Creating your first project
Start a project as a blank Script, a blank Story, or by importing writing you already have.
A Project holds one film. Creating a project creates only the project: Scriptr adds a Story or a Script when you first open it, not before.
Start a project
- Select New project in the sidebar, or go to Projects and start a new one.
- Choose how to begin:
- Script opens a blank screenplay.
- Story opens a blank prose manuscript.
- Import brings in a screenplay or story you already have. See Importing an existing screenplay or story.
- Your project opens. To name it, open the project menu (⋯ beside the project in the sidebar) and type a new name. See Renaming a project and changing its appearance.
After that
Every project has a Project Home, where you can move into Story, Script, Characters & Places, Whiteboard, Co-writer and Production. See Understanding Project Home.
Good to know
- The box that invites you to describe an idea to Co-writer cannot plan a project for you yet. Your idea stays on screen, and you can start a blank Story or Script from there.
- Whiteboard is marked Soon on the new-project screen. You can still open the Whiteboard for any project once it exists.
