Auditioning voices
Add voices to Compare, give them a line, and hear each one perform it before you cast the character.
Choosing a voice is casting. An audition is the same line, performed by each candidate.
Set up the audition
- Choose Compare on each voice you want to hear, from the library or from the versions you created.
- Under Try a line, choose From the Script for the character’s real dialogue, or Your own line for a test line you type.
- Choose the line to perform.
The line is performed in every compared voice at once. Scriptr shows what the performances will use before it starts.
Listen
Each performance plays with its waveform. Play them in any order, as often as you like: replaying a performance never uses your allowance again.
Try a few kinds of line before you decide: a quiet one, an angry one, a long speech. A voice that suits one moment may not suit the character.
Decide
Each compared voice has Use for and the character’s name. See Comparing performances.
