Creating a voice from a description
Describe how the character sounds and Voice Studio creates three versions to choose from. Stop at any time and nothing is created.
Describe the voice
- In Voice Studio, choose Create a voice.
- Write a direction, the way you would brief a casting director. For example: low, unhurried, with a coastal edge; warm, but tired of being polite. The field grows as you type.
- Choose Create voice.
Voice Studio creates three versions in place. Each version is a possible voice for the character, not a take.
Stop
Choose Stop while the versions are being created. If you stop, nothing is created and nothing is used.
Then
Add any version to Compare and audition it on a line. See Auditioning voices.
Writing a good direction
- Start with the essentials: register, age, accent, pace.
- Add one or two qualities: dry, breathy, precise.
- Say what the character is like under pressure, not only at rest.
